The “Wilder Kaiser” around Ellmau promises excellent conditions for all trail lovers. From “leisurely” laps in the valley to challenging alpine routes for experienced runners – every runner will find something to suit their training needs here. There are lots of different routes that can also be combined with each other. Choose for yourself whether you want to count the altitude meters or the kilometers in an alpine setting.

Wow. There are so many trails for all skill levels. Beginners and competitive athletes alike can enjoy scenic and challenging routes. We have created a breathtaking overview for fans of Sporthel Ellmau.

The Wilder Kaiser region is not only a paradise for trail running training, but also the venue for renowned trail running competitions that attract runners from all over the world. The right equipment

Trail running shoes with good tread are essential. Depending on the length and difficulty of the tour, a small backpack with a water bladder, food, windbreaker/rain gear, and a small first aid kit are also important. A cell phone is mandatory.

Weather & conditions: The weather in the mountains can change quickly. Always check the current weather conditions in advance and adjust your route planning accordingly. Caution in wet conditions: The trails can become very slippery.

GPS & Maps

Download GPX tracks to your GPS watch or smartphone. Ideally, always take a hiking map with you. The signage is good, but in unfamiliar terrain, additional navigation can be invaluable.

Acclimatization

Those coming from lower-lying regions should give their bodies time to adjust. Starting with easier tours is definitely a good idea.

Hydration & Food

Plan sufficient breaks for drinking and eating, especially on longer tours. Many huts along the trails offer the opportunity to stop for refreshments and refill water bottles.

Mountain schools/Running clubs
